Movie Night: How Deep the High Journey

  • Leavenworth Area Seniors Activity Center 423 Evans Street Leavenworth, WA, 98826 United States (map)

The Leavenworth Senior Center with sponsorship from the Greater Leavenworth Museum will host a local showing of How Deep the High Journey, the beautifully crafted film created by Bill and Peg Stark—affectionately known as the Grandparents of the Enchantments. Featuring Bill’s remarkable photography and Peg’s heartfelt narration, this film offers an intimate, visually stunning journey through the Enchantments and the landscapes that shaped so much of our valley’s outdoor culture.

For longtime residents and newcomers alike, this is a rare chance to celebrate the Starks’ legacy—from their early days hiking these mountains, to founding the Extended Family arts community, to creating Scottish Lakes High Camp, to inspiring generations of mountain lovers. Their story is woven into the very fabric of Leavenworth, and this film captures that spirit with warmth and wonder.

We hope you’ll join us for this special screening—an evening to reconnect with friends, honor two beloved community icons, and experience the Enchantments through the eyes of the people who helped define them.
